Washer & Dryer and Quality Selection Table

Unlike traditional systems, the quality selection table, brush washer and dryer consist of rollers that rotate over their own axis, while the entire assembly runs in a continuous loop. Since the tomatoes are transported rather than pushed over the rollers, this virtually eliminates bruising or scarring caused by the stems of adjacent tomatoes.

Located over the brush roller assembly are several spray bars. The first bars use recycled and filtered water to remove the dirt and debris from the tomatoes. The spray bar at the end of the brush line use fresh water to rinse the tomatoes before they enter the sponge roller drying line.

The water-recycling tank under the brush rollers is equipped with a filtration system to remove the dirt as well as small particles before returning it to the first rows of spray bars.

Upon entering the sponge roller line, the tomatoes pass under an air blower(s). Unlike air knifes, these units are so quiet that no ear protection is required to meet OSHA regulations.

Upon returning to their starting position, the sponge rollers meet up with compression rollers, which remove the water from the sponges.
